Welcome to Kihew Waciston Cree Immersion

The KIHEW WACISTON Cree Immersion School of the ONION LAKE CREE NATION founded in 2005, is an independent, non-denominational school offering enrollment to students from Pre-Kindergarten to grade 4, eventually the goal is to offer immersion to grade 12.

Our culturally age appropriate curriculum strives to fully integrate the disciplines of the
nēhiyaw knowledge of Creation, humanities, sciences, mathematics, physical movement
and the nēhiyaw culture arts into a strong academic program.

The immersion schools goal is to engage the childs mind, fire up the nēhiyaw home fire
(ahcāhk / soul), strengthen the language, identity, and kinship,
as students develop initiative, creativity and skills needed to enter responsibility
into an ever changing local and global community.

VISION OF THE FIRST NATIONS LANGAUGE IMMERSION PROGRAM

The First Nations Languages Immersion program is intended to help revitalize First Nations languages. It has at its heart the concepts of Identity and Culture from a First Nations perspective. 

It is hoped that over time, this program will ultimately provide the impetus for the rebirth of First Nations Languages throughout Canada.
